Job dissatisfaction is a serious problem faced by not only banks but also employees. As
employees are a main resource factor of the organization immediate and fruitful steps have to
be taken to rectify the job dissatisfaction.
Employee satisfaction is to find out whether employees are happy and comfortable in
accomplishing the organizational goals and their personal goals achieving work life balance.
Employee satisfaction can be measured by employee satisfaction index by conducting a
survey , employee net performance score, rate of absenteeism and employee turn over rate.
In most of government owned banks of Sri Lanka we observe less employee turnover yet
employee satisfaction is a matter to consider. Work stress is increased and employee
benefits have been reduced due to turbulent economic situation of the country. Employees
tend to stay in his present working place in spite of his satisfaction as they prefer security
than growth and development nowadays.
In the study among both of government owned banks PEo bank has high and stable
economic statistics compared to RD bank. PEo bank consist of employee turn over ratio
reaching 98% a higher value than RD bank. There is a correlation between successful
economic growth of the bank with employee satisfaction of the bank.
Human capital is the key resource in an organization . employee's willingness to stay on the
job depends on the satisfaction of the work due to remuneration pack. In order to ensure
employee optimal satisfaction and retention organizations needs to consider a variety of
appropriate ways to reward the employees to get the desired results. Employees of an
organization expecting better salaries, welfare facilities and good working conditions. Policies
and strategies should be implemented to keep employees satisfied while maximizing their
contributions towards achieving organizational goals.

In current situation employees of the banks tend to stay in their current work place yet external factors tends to increase the stress level of bankers which is a matter needed to pay attention and find a remedy to manage it.
