06 How to Overcome Job Dissatisfaction

 Job dissatisfaction has a terrific impact on efficiency work ethics, and healthy working

 environment in the workplace. It is the strongest influence on productivity and outlook of the

 bank. Among most of possible causes for job dissatisfaction most common are correctable

 and avoidable.

  1. Provide clear instructions and a well-established set of goals to employees to combat. The sense of uncertainty and lack of direction that is a common source of dissatisfaction at work. Making the short- and long-term results of every exercise known, and the employees will be more confident about what they are working toward and more efficient in getting there

  2. Provide workers with opportunities for advancement and variety in their work. Repetitive work can result in boredom, low productivity and no pride in the work. Workers who are able to mix it up and do different tasks over the span of a workday or workweek are less likely to succumb to the numbness of repetition. Additionally, if workers feel as though they are not taken seriously and will never have the chance to excel and move up, they are less likely to work as efficiently and effectively as those who have something to gain

  3. Avoid creating an atmosphere of constant overtime and work that is never ending. Workers are dissatisfied when they are expected to work beyond the normal wok hours of a day. Also work life balance of an employee is a considerable combating job dissatisfaction

  4. Granting some level of control to the employees to instill a feeling that they hold domain over at least some part of the work at hand. When workers take orders without any say in why or how a task is completed, they may develop resentment and dissatisfaction with the process

  5. Communicate with workers to show that their presence, skills and opinions matter. Praise good work an letting it be known that higher management notice every single proceeding step that is taken is a motivation for employees

  6. Eliminate any favoritism in the workplace

  7. Create a system of rewards, monetary and otherwise, to show your workers that their hard work is recognized and appreciated. Promotions, raises, bonuses, workplace events and group outings are all great ways to reward while improving the general attitude and the relationships between workers and each other as well as the management.


Improving Employee Satisfaction




In order to improve job satisfaction, we need to consider the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect it. The intrinsic factors are related to a more personal dimension, while extrinsic factors relate to the job and the organization. Individual factors relate to employee’s personality: self-esteem, conscientiousness, internal locus of control, etc.  Job-related factors are the characteristics of the job itself: skill variety, type of tasks, autonomy, and feedback. Last but not least, organizational factors consider the working environment: leadership and supervision technical and emotional support, coworker relationships, job security, compensation, development, person-organization fit.

  • Provide opportunities for the use of skills and abilities. Feeling useful and recognized at work helps to attain self-realization. Helping employees in their professional development will result in higher loyalty and better performance.
  • Promoting good relationships with immediate supervisors is key to employee’s retention. Nothing undermines morale as feeling unappreciated. 
  •  Open communication between employees and management: is an easy way to build a healthy and innovative working environment. When communication is poor, employees are more reluctant to share their concerns, and also their ideas.
  • Invest in compensation and benefits – it almost needs no explanation. Fair wages are crucial to attract and retain talent.   Remember that there are other non-monetary incentives that are also extremely important, like time management.
  • Provide as much job security as possible. Uncertainty about one’s future at work usually affects employee’s performance in negative ways, which can lead to undesired behaviors.

 compensation and benefits up to date, encourage gratitude and generosity among workers,

 recognize and reward excellent employees while motivating others, create opportunities to

 growth and development and suitable recruitments.
